Salmon Derby

Monterey Bay Veterans takes tremendous pride in our annual fishing derbies. This is the time when you get to witness, first-hand, the camaraderie of the disabled veterans and the physically challenged community.

In addition, we get to watch them enjoy life and perform activities, in which they could not otherwise participate. Their competitive nature shines through! Our sponsors offer prizes to those who catch the biggest fish!

All of our derbies are free of charge, but you must apply, as space is limited.

The Wheelchair Salmon Derby is held in the spring. The derby traditionally begins Friday night with registration and a complimentary dinner. Everyone meets the following morning at 5a.m. Participants are eager to load onto their individual boats. Party boats are hired, and private skippers volunteer their time and boats for the event.

Following the final fishing trip all derby participants and volunteers are invited to a banquet to award prizes to the top anglers. The event is not limited to disabled military veterans. The derby is open to all physically challenged members of the community.

If you would like to participate in one of these major events, please fill out the Registration Form below and send it to the address indicated on the form. Please click the links below to access the participant or volunteer registration forms, derby flyer, and the directions.
